Care at Quadra Children's Centre

Quadra Children's Centre is currently the only licensed childcare provider for young children on Quadra Island, and demand for care is higher than ever. Available care is offered to families through our waitlist. We are a community-minded centre, and we ask every family to request only the days they truly need which allows us to serve as many families in our community as possible.

Joining the waitlist is the first step for a child of any age. We recommend applying before your child is eligible to start; we'll add them to the list for the right program and reach out when a space may be available. Meet the age and licensing requirements for the program

Age requirements vary by program. For preschool, children must be 3 years old by December 31 of the enrollment year. You're welcome to join the waitlist before your child is eligible — we'll consider them when they reach the right age.’

How Enrollment Works

We offer care through a set of fixed weekly schedules:

2 days — Monday & Tuesday

3 days — Wednesday, Thursday & Friday

4 days — Monday to Thursday

5 days — Monday to Friday

We will offer a schedule based on the days you indicate you need and what's available. Minimum enrollment is 2 days per week (this doesn't apply to our school-age programs).

What to Expect

• Completing the waitlist form does not guarantee a space, a specific schedule, or a start date.

• Space tends to open in September, when children leave for kindergarten and enrollment shifts across our programs.

• Offers are made to eligible children in order of registration date, as space allows. We'll try to offer a schedule as close as possible to the one you requested.

• When a space is offered, we'll contact you by email and phone; you'll have five business days to respond.

• Because so many factors affect availability, we're not able to estimate when a particular space will open.

You will receive an email confirmation once you complete the form. Please contact us if you do not. We'll hold your child's information and contact you when we're able to make an offer.
