ROLE #1 - EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAM STAFF ASSISTANT
Position Focus: Early Learning & Outdoor Exploration Assistant
Location: Quadra Children's Centre
Program: Preschool (ages 3-5)/ Wonderful Leaf School-Age Program (ages 5-7)
Rate: $21.00/hr.
Term: Summer position, Canada Summer Jobs
NOTE: Applicants must be between 15 and 30 years old
Position Summary
The Early Learning & Outdoor Exploration Assistant supports educators in providing engaging, play-based learning experiences for young children. This role focuses on outdoor exploration, nature-based learning, and supporting children's social and emotional development in a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support educators in delivering daily activities that promote children's learning and development.
Assist with indoor and outdoor play, including forest walks and nature-based exploration.
Help set up and maintain safe, organized play environments.
Encourage children's curiosity about the natural world through observation and hands-on experiences.
Support children's social-emotional development by modelling positive communication and behaviour.
Assist with daily routines such as snack time, transitions, and hygiene practices.
Participate in simple garden care and outdoor stewardship activities.
Maintain a safe and inclusive environment by supervising children during all activities.
Assist with preparation of materials, cleaning, and general program organization.
Work collaboratively with staff to support a positive team environment.
What You Will Gain
Experience working in a licensed childcare setting.
Training in early learning practices and child development.
Outdoor education and nature-based learning experience.
First Aid certification and Responsible Adult training, if applicable.
Mentorship and support exploring careers in Early Childhood Education.

Position Focus: Community Connections & Active Play Assistant
Location: Quadra Children's Centre
Program: Quadra Kids School-Age Program (ages 7-12)
Rate: $21.00/hr.
Term: Summer position, Canada Summer Jobs
NOTE: Applicants must be between 15 and 30 years old
Position Summary
The Community Connections & Active Play Assistant supports the school-age summer program by helping deliver engaging activities that promote active play, community connection, and children's overall well-being. The role includes outdoor activities, local outings, and simple food and environmental learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Support staff in delivering daily summer programming, including games, crafts, and outdoor activities.
Assist with active play, sports, and group games that encourage teamwork and participation.
Help supervise children during outdoor play, park visits, beach days, and local outings.
Assist with simple food literacy activities such as snack preparation and garden care.
Encourage environmental awareness through recycling, composting, and nature-based activities.
Support positive peer interactions and help children build confidence and social skills.
Assist with preparing materials, setting up activities, and maintaining clean spaces.
Help coordinate and participate in community-based activities and special event days.
Follow safety procedures and support staff in maintaining a safe environment.

Position Focus: Technology & Administrative Modernization Assistant
Location: Quadra Children's Centre
Program: Administration / Operations
Rate: $21.00/hr

NOTE: Applicants must be between 15 and 30 years old
Position Summary
The Technology & Administrative Modernization Assistant supports the improvement of the centre's administrative systems and digital processes. This role focuses on organizing information, supporting digital tools, and helping streamline workflows to improve efficiency across programs.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with organizing and digitizing administrative files and records.
Support improvements to digital systems such as forms, templates, and shared documents.
Help organize and clean data for use in spreadsheets, databases, or filing systems.
Assist with updating internal documents, checklists, and program materials.
Support basic technology organization, including file systems, device tracking, and simple troubleshooting.
Assist with communications such as newsletters, website updates, or social media posts.
Help identify opportunities to improve administrative processes and workflows.
Maintain confidentiality and follow privacy and data management practices.
Provide general administrative support including filing, scanning, and organizing materials.
